Delete your account
To delete your Octotune account, open the app, switch to Adult, open your account and choose Delete account. Your account's copy of the progress, its plan record and its billing record are deleted at once, then the account itself. Cancel an Octotune Plus subscription first: deleting the account doesn't cancel it.
Accounts in Octotune are for grown-ups only, and deleting one takes a minute. This page explains how to do it, what is deleted, and what other companies keep. Privacy covers everything Octotune keeps.
How to delete your account in the app
Open Octotune, switch to Adult, open your account, and choose Delete account.
- In Adult, tap your picture or initial at the top right, then Account and backup.
- If a child uses the device, press and hold the gear for a second and a half, then type the answer to the question that follows. This stops a child from reaching the account.
- Scroll to Delete account, and confirm.
If you signed in a while ago, you are asked to sign in again first, to make sure it is you.
What is removed
These are deleted as soon as you confirm, before the account itself:
- Your account's copy of the progress: the progress and preferences kept in your account so they are the same on every device.
- Your plan record: which plan your account is on.
- Your billing record: the record of an Octotune Plus subscription, if you had one.
Then the account itself is deleted: your sign-in, name and email address. If you signed in with Apple in the iPhone or iPad app, Octotune's access to your Apple sign-in is revoked too.
The progress on your own device stays until you clear it. To remove it, clear this site's data in your browser's settings, or delete the app.
What is kept by others
Deleting your account doesn't reach the records that the companies behind Octotune Plus keep:
- Link and Stripe keep the receipts for any payments you made, under their own privacy policies. Octotune Plus is sold through Link, by Stripe.
- RevenueCat keeps a record of your purchases. Octotune deletes it on request: email hello@octotune.com from your account's email address and ask for your purchase records to be deleted.
If you have an Octotune Plus subscription
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription, so cancel it first. While a subscription still renews, the app says so and shows Manage subscription instead of deleting. Once it is cancelled, it runs to the end of the period you paid for, and you can delete your account straight away.
When it takes effect
Deleting takes effect immediately. There is no waiting period, and a deleted account can't be restored. The progress on your device isn't affected, so you can sign in again later with a new account and keep playing.
Without the app
If you can't use the app, a grown-up can ask us to delete the account. Email hello@octotune.com from your account's email address, and say that you want your Octotune account deleted. We delete the same things the app does, and reply when it is done.
